Northwood Maple

Northwood is a University of Minnesota introduction.

It was chosen mainly for it’s hardiness and vigor.

It’s branches are at a 45 degree angle and ascend into the crown.

Unfortunately, Northwood’s fall color is a rather muted orange/brown in the south, but in colder climates, it will exhibit more red.

The bloom of Northwood is quite noticeable, red clumps on the limbs before the leaves emerge.

Although it blooms, Northwood is a seedless tree.
