Appalachian Rosebud Red

This is a lovely small tree great for gardens and parks. ‘Appalacian Red’ is more floriferous than the species, especially if grown in full sun.

The blooms come on later than the species, and are very bright. Red, purple or dark pink?

It’s in the eye of the beholder. It has the same dark, glossy heart shaped leaves as the species.

Cercis also has a tendency to have very narrow crotches that will break out when the branch is laden with snow or ice.

It’s best to keep a close watch on this and remove these limbs when very small.

Grows to 25 ft high and 25 ft wide

Growth rate: Moderate
